Breaking: AWS Unveils Next-Generation AI Agents and Amazon Quick at Landmark Event

SEATTLE, WA — AWS CEO Matt Garman today announced a sweeping overhaul of enterprise AI, introducing Amazon Quick as a personal work assistant and expanding Amazon Connect into four specialized agentic AI solutions. The announcements, made at the What's Next with AWS event, signal a major shift toward autonomous, task-oriented AI that integrates deeply with existing workflows.

“We are moving from tools that answer questions to agents that take action,” Garman said. “These are not just features; they are a new way of working.” The event featured appearances from Colleen Aubrey, SVP of Amazon Applied AI Solutions, and Julia White, CMO of AWS, alongside OpenAI leaders, highlighting the industry-wide push for agentic AI.

Amazon Quick: AI Assistant for the Modern Workplace

Amazon Quick is an AI assistant that connects to a user’s full stack of apps, learns individual preferences, and autonomously executes tasks. Starting today, users can access a desktop app in preview, sign up for Free or Plus plans, generate visuals from chat, and connect to more services. The assistant is designed to operate without requiring an AWS account.

“Quick is about removing friction,” said Colleen Aubrey. “It understands context, accesses files across platforms, and produces polished output – all from natural language.” The desktop app provides a personalized experience by integrating directly with local files, calendar, and communications, bypassing the browser.

Pricing and Availability

New Free and Plus plans allow instant sign-up using personal email or credentials from Google, Apple, GitHub, or Amazon. No AWS account is needed. “We want everyone to experience the power of agentic AI,” Aubrey added.

Visual Asset Generation

Quick now generates documents, presentations, infographics, and images directly from the chat interface. Available immediately, this feature eliminates the need for design skills or hours of formatting.

Expanded Integrations

Native integrations now include Google Workspace, Zoom, Airtable, Dropbox, and Microsoft Teams. Users can connect Quick to more apps than ever, creating a unified control center for work.

In preview, Quick allows users to create intelligent apps, dashboards, and web pages using natural language. These apps are deeply connected to the rest of the business, enabling custom solutions without coding.

Amazon Connect Evolves into Four Agentic AI Solutions

Amazon Connect is no longer a single product; it has expanded into four specialized agentic AI solutions: Decisions for supply chains, Talent for hiring, Customer for experience, and Health for healthcare. Each is designed to work within existing workflows.

“We are giving businesses AI teammates that adapt, learn, and improve continuously,” explained Julia White. “These solutions shift focus from crisis management to proactive strategy.”

Amazon Connect Decisions (Supply Chain)

Connect Decisions is a supply chain planning and intelligence solution that uses AI teammates to move teams away from firefighting toward proactive planning. It leverages 30 years of Amazon operational science and over 25 specialized tools. “It learns your business and gets smarter every day,” White noted.

Amazon Connect Talent (Hiring)

Currently in preview, Connect Talent is an agentic AI hiring solution for scaled recruiting. It conducts AI-led interviews, applies science-backed assessments, and ensures consistent evaluations. Recruiters can hire high-quality candidates faster, while applicants enjoy a flexible experience that reduces human bias.

Amazon Connect Customer (Customer Experience)

Formerly just Amazon Connect, this solution delivers personalized customer experiences across voice, chat, and digital channels. New configuration capabilities allow organizations to set up conversational AI in weeks, not months, without technical expertise.

Amazon Connect Health (Healthcare)

Connect Health brings agentic AI to healthcare workflows, assisting with patient interactions, appointment scheduling, and clinical decision support. Specific details were limited but promise to streamline complex healthcare operations.

Background: The Rise of Agentic AI

The What's Next with AWS event has become a key venue for cloud and AI announcements. This year's focus on agents reflects a broader industry shift from passive AI assistants to proactive agents that can plan, execute tasks, and interact with other systems. AWS’s investments in generative AI and automation aim to keep it competitive against offerings from Microsoft, Google, and startups.

OpenAI’s presence at the event underscores the collaborative nature of the ecosystem. “Agentic AI is not just a technology – it’s a new paradigm for how work gets done,” said an OpenAI leader who spoke on stage.

What This Means for Businesses

Businesses can now deploy AI agents that handle everything from candidate interviews to supply chain optimization. The new Amazon Quick delivers a unified AI assistant that works across local files and cloud apps, reducing context switching. For companies that rely on Amazon Connect, the expansion into vertical-specific solutions means faster deployment and less customization.

“This is a game-changer for productivity and decision-making,” said White. “Organizations that adopt these agents will be able to operate with unprecedented speed and intelligence.” The move also lowers the barrier to entry, as no AWS account is needed for Amazon Quick and supply chain tools come pre-loaded with Amazon’s operational expertise.

As businesses scramble to adapt, AWS is betting that agentic AI will be the next frontier. With today’s announcements, the company has laid a clear foundation for a future where AI doesn’t just assist but acts.
